thalidomide

I went to my usual support group meeting last night and listened to the 20 in attendance speak about their various side effect- mostly from thalidomide.

Can anyone relate positive experience with thalidomide?

Is anyone interested in discussing possible ways to minimize side effects?

positive experience with thalodmide..... yes of course! i brought down MM counts in january from Ig/A of 63 g/L (6300) down to 10 g/L (1000) by april.....and the paraprotein reduced from 46 g/L in december '05 down to 6 in april......this albeit with the deadly DEX. dex is much more of a beast to deal with really.....deposits abdominal fat, reduces muscle - its a catabolic steroid ! all sorts of other stuff too.....so one is wary about dex. with thal, there is a sleepy thing happening ( so you need some strong coffee first thing to get over the top of it) and perhaps some ritalin a couple of times a week to kick the arse into gear. i find taking some days off to be good in geting the guts back to normal. furthermore,i keep the thal dose at 100 mg the key thing to avoid is PN: now hans yaeger has noted that country life metabolic coenxyme vit B complex prevents PN for him while using thalidomide. http://www.yeagers.info/h... he is very clued up,and therefore unlikely to be making a rash claim for yet another bloody vitamin product. i live in australia....otherwise i would have gone round the corner and got some. ok i hope this is a little bit helpful on the subject of thal. joe
