Sun sensitivity after a bmt

Below is an excerpt from an acor post- Has anyone ever been told not to go into the sun after a bmt?

"After his SCT last May, my husband's onc said that he should not be exposed
>>> to diresct sun light. Yeasteday, one of my husband's friends, who is a
>>> hematologist, said that there is no point in preventing him from sitting
>>> in direct sunlight. My husband just loves the beach and he was thinking
>>> today of going to the beach. I pevented him but now i need to know if you
>>> have an idea why he should not be exposed to sunlight (in case any of you
>>> were forbidden also from sunlight)
>>> Thanks
>>> Nirmeen

I would not get burnt after SCT because your immune system is low and also virgin again. I was use SPF 45+ sunblock and stay out of the direct sun between 12:00-3:00 PM when the sun is the most direct.

I was told to avoid sunlight after SCT because of chemo. I did not ask for how long since I use sunscreen if I have to go out in the Houston summer!
