Hi All,
I came across subject article today and it has definitely rocked my world.
I have great faith and confidence in the folks at UAMS, Little Rock, who treat me in the Total Therapy III trial. I'm living proof that it's working since I've been in complete response for 2 1/2 years. Yet the implication as put forth in the article that rats and mice are better protected by the government than humans is a bit unnerving.
Here's the link to read what The New York Times reported:

Hello Ralph, Very happy to say the least of your 2.5 yrs of CR.... Might you enlighten us with the meds that UAMS in the Total Therapy 111 trials you were involved in. Thank you MJ/ SL
Congraturlations on 2.5 years of CR, Ralph. Let's hope it continues.
Although the NY Times article regarding poor FDA oversight of human clinical trials is disturbing, there is some hope of additional FDA scrutiny on the horizon. The US House of Representatives last week passed a bill that will give the FDA additional powers to oversee drugs after they have been on the market, not just when they are being considered for approval.
Quote:
The legislation, which reauthorizes the user fee program through fiscal year 2012, includes significant improvements to strengthen FDA’s ability to ensure drug safety. Chief among these are giving FDA the authority, for the first time, to require a drug company to make a change to a drug’s label post-approval. One of the primary gaps in FDA’s current authority is its inability to require a drug company to add new warnings to its label to reflect new safety information discovered after approval. The case of Vioxx is a tragic illustration of this situation. When FDA first learned of study results suggesting serious cardiac risks, FDA haggled with the company for 14 months before consumers finally saw a watered-down warning.
The US Senate is scheduled to discuss this topic soon.

MJ and all- I cut and pasted Ralph's post from the acor list. I don't know who he is and he is not a member of b-m.org. I thought his post was important to share with the list. David
David, I often find it confusing when you cut and paste like this, especially since your name usually shows up as the sender. Maybe you could preface such posts with a short statement that this is a cut-and-paset from another list, so people know it is not your own post?
Lisa- I will preface each cut and paste with a comment when i cut and paste a post. David-

David,
Where do I find Ra;ph's post from the acor list that you cut and pasted?
Thanks,

MJ- I get 2-3 digests of the acor list each day. I would have found the post on the acor list the day before it appeared on the b-m.org list but i don't remember what day that was. All I can say is that it would be in the acor mm archives. Do the archives have search software? Can you go to the archives and search either by subject or author?
