All- below is an post to the acor list about Gary Takata. Gary was an interesting member both of acor and b-m.org. Gary posted frequently to the acor list with links to studies. And though he didn't comment on b-m.org much he emailed me often with comments about non-conventional issues.
Clearly, Gary was firmly planted in the conventional world but was also interested in the non-conventional world of mm as well. I will miss him.

Subject: [MM] Sad News...
I regret to inform you that our longtime friend, Gary Takata, passed
peacefully last night in hospice. Gary had been a longtime myeloma
survivor and ultimately succumbed to another cancer, which invaded is
liver and lungs.
Gary was a wonderful friend. He contributed mightily to the acor
listserv. He also helped me run the Manhattan Multiple Myeloma Support
group at St. Vincents in New York City. He had a distinguished and
successful career in biotech and was a generous supported of the
International Myeloma Foundation and other organizations.
We will all miss him very much.

Gary's insight will be greatly missed. He knew alot about this disease and was always encouraging. May he rest in peace.
Any news like this is bound to make all of us sad. Gary was very kind to me, and wrote me offlist a number of times with encouraging comments. I appreciated this a lot, especially when my posts on the ACOR list seemed to cause controversy! He seemed like a highly intelligent, very warm, and thoroughly decent person. I felt better having him on the ACOR list, and will feel his absence. My condoloences to his family and to all who cared for him.
I am no longer a member of the Acor list, so I didn't know about Gary. Thanks, David, for informing us...I agree with all that has been said about him: kind, warm, smart, decent and so on. I would also add: respectful. A rare quality.
I myself had many private exchanges with Gary who was interested in my alternative treatments, mainly curcumin of course.
Very sorry, very sad about this bit of news.
