Myeloma is a "treatable form of leukemia?"

Has anyone heard of myeloma referred to as a treatable form of leukemia or has this guy just got it wrong?
David

"To make a long story short, after a bone marrow biopsy, she's got
multiple myeloma (sp?), a form of treatable leukemia. It seems that the
stress on her body from the back surgery weakened her immune system
enough to let it take off, as it was "dormant" for a fairly long period
of time. She's starting radiation treatment today on her hip, and the
doctor's are emphasizing at her age (late '80s) that is is reasonably
easy to treat and control. However, apparently no cure"
