Hello Mill.

So sorry you're facing this situation.  I think if you have doubts about the diagnosis it is really important to get another opinion before you start any kind of chemo, since the chemo itself does damage to your body. I'm no expert, having only been dealing with this disease for a year since my husband's diagnosis, but here are some questions that come to mind: Do you have any lytic lesions or bone damage? Have they done a skeletal xray or MRI? Do you have bone pain? Abnormally high calcium? Anemia? YOu say you're losing a lot of protein: how are they determining that? (I"m afraid I don't know what proteinuria is).  Have they done serum electrophoresisor immunofixation? THat will show the presence of an abnormal M protein in your blood. The common types of MM are IgA and IgG, I think. If you've been given a diagnosis of MM you should alsohave been told what kind of MM, and you should have been assigned a stage (Stage 1, Stage II, Stage III.)

Best luck and let us know what you find out after the 10th.
