Gene testing determined that you have an INability to neutralize certain food toxins? Is this like celiac disease? Is this similar to the quote below? Terry? David
"The study found that genetic pathways associated with the ability to neutralize environmental toxins are defective in patients with classic myeloma (myeloma with bone involvement). These pathways are identified as specific segments of genes called single nucleotide polymorphisms or SNPs that are known to be associated with toxin metabolism and DNA repair. These findings are in line with observations of patient populations and groups of workers including firefighters that had previously demonstrated a correlation between increased risk for myeloma and exposure to hydrocarbons and related chemicals."

I had gene testing done on the methylation pathway, which is the cycle that allows your body to detoxify. I have 26 out of 37 genes in that cycle which have either one of two mutations. This explains why after months and months of chelation therapy to get rid of high levels of heavy metals, no progress had been made. My body simply is not equiped to detoxify anything that I eat, breath, etc. There are 4 cycles and each one depends on the other to make it to the Krebs cycle. The doctor who did this testing said all of her patients with cancer, ALS and MS have mutiple mutations in this cycle. Just food for thought.

Mary Jo-
Interesting. Will you relay specifics of the genetic test you took? I would like to do the same.
An other info you may have regarding other genetic tests, what they identify, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

David, I used a lab right here in Bethel Maine. They use nutrition and supplements to "help" genes that are mutated. It was pioneered at UC Davis but I think Dr. Amy is the first the discover the methylation pathway and chronic disease. www.knowyourgenetics.com I had this test done as I am adopted and have no family history. Hope this helps.
Happy New Year!!!! Each year is so precious it really deserves a celebration.
