I'd like to mention a book about celiac disease and gluten sensitivity that may be of interest to listserv members. The book is "Dangerous Grains" by James Braly, M.D. and Ron Hoggan, M.A. It was published in 2002. On the cover the authors have written: "Discover the benefits of a gluten-free diet in relieving and preventing the ailments associated with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and more than 200 chronic illnesses and conditions, including cancer, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, brain disorders, chronic pain, digestive disorders, and infertility and problematic pregnancies." The authors suggest that patients with gluten sensitivity follow a hunter-gatherer type of diet.

In the event that blood tests for gluten sensitivity don't work, I'm posting below the name of the company that does saliva tests for gliaden sensitivity. (This is the company that did my testing a few years ago.) When I spoke with a company representative, I was told that low IGA levels would make no difference on this test. The company has a web site that is currently under construction. I'm not sure when it will be available, since I learned that it was under construction after the phone call. The site has a list of health care practitioners listed by state who can order the test. The company is Diagnos-Techs, Inc Tel: 425.251.0596. The web site is www.diagnos-tech.com .
