Beth Morgan of the MMA list posted an important issue to her blog yesterday discussing posting to the mma list and the menace of spamming to the mma listserv-

When the b-m.org forum-listserv was launched the developers had a keen understanding of how spam can infect a listserv if it is not password protected.  The mma and acor lists are not password protected and therefore are bombarded daily with spam.  B-m.org does not contend with spam because of the sign-up process and because of the sign-in process that each one of us deals with each time we write a post.

Several of you have written to me with difficulties and confusion resulting from the requirement to sign-in.  I understand that we require posters to sign-in each time to post. This sign-in is required in order to avoid the spam that mma and acor have to deal with.

The best way to streamline the sign-in process is to either check the "remember me" box or click on the drop down "remember my password" window that many email programs offer (firefox and others).

Please understand why we require this and  please click the remember my password box to make your forum experiece as user friendly as possible.  Thank you.  David
