curcumin
Promising, no side effects...
Margaret's Corner talked about an interview with Dr. Aggarwal today- great blog post.
The link below is to a blog post from Margaret's Corner about the anti flu properties of curcumin supplementation. There is a growing amount of research clearly indicating many health benefits of curcumin, fish oil and vitamin D supplementation well beyond anti-myeloma activity. The list goes from anti-cancer action to anti-parkinsons and now to anti-flu.

Lori Puente emailed this article to me this am (thanks Lori) and I am posting it to the group- as the articles below discuss, curcumin has anti-cancer action, (anti myeloma, anti esophageal, anti head and neck) anti-plaque (parkinson's) and even anti-fat- please excuse my hyperbole- it is practically a wonder supplement.

curcumin supplementation reduces the risk of blood clots
MANILA, Philippines--Each and every one of us has experienced some form of blood clotting at some point in our lives.
We usually observe this whenever we cut or bruise ourselves—the streaming blood would eventually “harden,” forming clumps that in time, stops the bleeding (although it depends on how big or how deep the wound is).
This is part of the body’s natural mechanism to seal the damaged blood vessel and to prevent more blood from leaking out.
CRP is reduced by curcumin, fish oil, other supplements
Scientists report that a protein best known as a common marker of inflammation plays a key role in the progression of human cancer. The research, published in the journal Cancer Cell, implicates C-reactive protein (CRP) as a potential target for cancer treatment.

Although turmeric (Curcuma longa; an Indian spice) has been described in Ayurveda, as a
treatment for inflammatory diseases and is referred by different names in different cultures,
the active principle called curcumin or diferuloylmethane, a yellow pigment present in

Myeloma Today in conversation with Dr. Bharat Aggarwal
Please tell us about the use of natural products in
cancer therapy.
The use of natural products in cancer therapy is noth-
ing new. Between the years 1981 and 2002 almost
74% of all drugs approved by the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) were either natural products,
were based thereon, or mimicked them in one form or
another. Many of the active chemical entities in these
natural products have already been identified. So it is
here are david's thoughts
This article on curcumin doesn't give any new info on the subject of curcumin but since it was in my hometown paper, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, I thought I'd post it. David
"Bharat Aggarwal knew that the protein, tumor necrosis
factor, or TNF, could cause a whole cascade of inflammation
in the human body -- a very bad thing. He also knew that
turmeric, the yellow curry spice, was a potent
anti-inflammatory in traditional ayurvedic medicine."

anti-inflammatory compounds that mediate their effects by inhibiting
activation of NF-kappaB signaling."

This forum as well as Margaret's Corner have covered curcumin's ability to combat cancer but this article talks about curcumin and other therapies and their ability to help survivor's with their side effects. DavidÂ
